Hi, this is probably an incredibly stupid question and, if so, my apologies. My son has been playing around with programming and is pretty sure he did something that is now causing a "socket error" whenever I try to connect to IRC.

I've taken several turns around Google to try and remedy the problem but
1. I'm not programmer material, and
2. I've really not the foggiest idea what I should even be looking for.

I'm stumped and my son has gone back to uni. Any advice whatsoever would be really appreciated.
