Problem installing Ubuntu
Ok So I'm fairly new to this linux stuff. I have messed with it a little in school and I have grown fond of it. I'm trying to make an ubuntu 9 file server, but I cant get ubuntu to recognize my hard disks. It keeps saying it needs drivers. I have tried the drives in and out of a raid config. I have tried to just hook up one and not the other. I really dont know what else to do anymore. The BIOS see them perfect, but just cant get ubuntu to see them.
OS trying to install is Ubuntu server 9
System Specs:
Phenom 9500
4GB OCZ 800mhz ram
Motherboard - NFroce MI-A78s-8209 (has GeForce 8200 video chipset)
HDD 2X Hitachi 1TB (HDS721010cla332)
Any in site would be awesome, and much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!
Just guessing here, but try going into the BIOS and toggle the SATA drive option to Legacy/PATA/IDE, etc and see if that works. Maybe someone else will step in with other things to try.oz

Yeah the only options my bios gives me is SATA, RAID and AHCI Ive tried all of them and even doing the F6 noacpi stuff and still nothing. I ve come accross a few posts about needing a drive for ubuntu to recognize the sata chipset but nothing about where to find it at

How old is your motherboard? Check if new version of its BIOS available at manufacturer website.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
