    Update manager?

    In the top info panel,(next to battery and volume etc.) there is a red icon. When clicked this message is given.

    " An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

    Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

    'E:Type 'Read' is not known on line 24 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.' "

    What is the fix?

    Line 24 in sources.list file is incorrect. gksu gedit will allow you to modify its contents. If you don't know what you are doing, do not edit anything in that file. Just copy its contents and post here.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
