Buying a Laptop for Ubuntu
Hello everyone,
I am going to purchase a new laptop shortly, and intend to only run Ubuntu on this device. Does anyone have any suggestions for a machine that gives as few problems as possible ? I am especially keen not to have to struggle with the wireless card, as I hate having to sort this out. Any recommendations would be most appreciated !

Check this site - it's a Linux-only system builder and they have some very nice 'buntu laptops: ZaReason, Inc.
FWIW, I'm thinking of getting one of the ZaReason laptops myself to replace my D630 Dell laptop which I run with Ubuntu (using it right now to write this). I've gotten a bit irritated with the Dell because of battery problems and the fact that touching the case near to the touchpad will trigger a button click, resulting in much swearing and gnashing of teeth...

Many thanks for the link ! I should, however, have mentioned that I am in the UK. I do envy you the number of Linux retailers in the US--this site would have saved me many headaches. The most recent purchases have all caused me lots of annoyance by having to go through ndiswrapper to get the wireless working and even then, the wireless was unstable and irritating.

They ship all over the world. Here is their page on international shipping: international :: ZaReason, Inc.

I would not buy anything from them: they're too expensive.
$ 459.99 for 10" netbook with very basic specs? $ 699.00 - $ 899.00 - $ 1,499.00 for 15.4" laptops? Better purchase any inexpensive laptop on Amazon, Newegg, etc and install Linux.
