flash sucks...i may just give in to windows 7
so i was hoping adobe and linux developers would make something good...but as of today I am not able to watch flash video in full screen, and forget HD flash video. Why does adobe still have such a stronghold on internet video? My computer is a p4 3.0ghz with on-board intel video, 2 gigs ram. in windows flash video works so smoothly, in linux its always been a nightmare even on different system configs. So many people are using portable netbooks with the atom processor and linux/flash video is the biggest complaint of them all. i wish they would get this worked out.
any tips on getting flash to work well? I have enabled UXA but no change, latest intel driver for 9.10 installed. I even tried the HTML5 experimental video player but its got some big issues.

Try the earlier version 9.04 and see if that yields a different result, I have come across display driver issues with 9.10.

Some distros just don't like flash, in my opinion. Have you tried using Linux Mint?

I had this discussion a few days ago. I see you are a demanding user of adobe products, and you should be, also many linux users think adobe had done much for linux.
I truly think adobe it's just another proprietary, closed, commercial software house like microsoft. If it's not open, to use their products, fully, you have to use their software. Or just don't use any at all.
From bogus "For Open Software Organization".

Luis
PS: I use flash with firefox on ubuntu karmic with no major problems for my needs. But I usually have it disable (Tools->Add-ons->Shockwave Flash, click Disable) because it's too demanding of the cpu even when i'm not looking at it.

btw, when I have something I can't do on linux I don't just give in to windows. Not quite, at least (for me it's autocad, but I'm fighting with varicad now).
I create a virtual machine, and run windows on it (dual boot is not a solution, not for me).
With your machine it might be a good solution, just don't know about HD flash video (?)
virtual machines are slower, but not crawling. It may be the best of two worlds if you are a home (cracking, not paying, no business) user.

I am not having any flash issues on my Linux Box. (Cronos Linux 1.1)
Has flash 10 installed out of the box and can watch HD flash movies without problems.

This is more than likely nothing more than an issue with a video card driver, an incorrect install of Flash.... nothing really major. Inconvenient, to be sure... but given further info, probably fixable.
Are we just viewing YouTube content? Or is it also NetFlix? Other streamed media?
Have there been any software updates applied?Jay

I have found something unusual with Flash in Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit.
When i play any flash games and certain videos in Firefox I get a lot of jittering and flickering.
Then I tried the same games and videos in Opera on the same pc and the problems disappeared except for 1 game.
To me that suggests the problem lies in the compatibility with Flash and Firefox rather then placing all the blame on Adobe.
I also have found that several other distros have absolutely no problems with Flash so if using another browser is not an option you can try other distros that will suit your taste and needs.
That's what makes Linux great. You have plenty of choices and options unlike proprietary OS's.
