Unable to reinstall Windows
I ran into the blue screen of death again and again and again no matter how I tried to long into Windows (safe mode, last good configuration, normally, etc), but Ubuntu still works. I do not like to depend on just using Ubuntu, though, because a) my wireless connection is shoddy there and b) all of my important files are still through Windows.
It got to the point where I saw no other option but to reinstall windows. I followed the very simple instructions, taking the reinstall CD and putting it in the drive and restarting. I was told that I would be able to choose to boot from the CD, but there is absolutely no way to make that happen and, therefore, no way to reinstall Windows.
I wouldn't mind using Ubuntu exclusively if the internet connection could be fixed and if I could access my files from Windows. At this point, I am most worried about losing my data, though, so I would love help with that the most... :/
Thanks in advance...

Windows Installation CD doesn't work because of GRUB in a few machines. You have to remove GRUB before starting installation.
If you want to backup data before Windows OS re-install, just mount Windows partition and backup data in Ubuntu.
Download SuperGRUB CD/USB, boot up from it and select 'Fix Windows Boot'. It will remove GRUB and Windows Installation CD will work fine after that. To setup dual boot again, you can re-install GRUB easily after Windows installation. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
