Ubuntu 10.04 boots to grub
Install went fine, no error messages, however when system completed install, I removed the cd and system rebooted. Instead of going to desktop, it brings up a grub prompt telling me to press the 'tab" key to get a list of commands. I have no clue what to do now. How do I get Ubuntu to boot normally?

Hi and Welcome !
Try to re-install GRUB.
Boot up from Ubuntu LiveCD, open Terminal and execute this
Replace sdXY with root partition in first command. sdX is device name assigned to Hard disk.Code:sudo mount /dev/sdXY /mnt sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt /dev/sdX sudo umount /mnt
If you have any confusion, post the output of sudo fdisk -l command here.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Did not work so cleaned disk(removed partitions) and started again, same thing. Switched to Kubuntu, same thing. I think the ISO disk may be corrupt so ordered a dvd which will arrive in about 4-6 weeks and will try again.
I did note that there were grub issue with the distro and said to have been fixed...wonder if this is a derivative of that bug? I know it was said to be for those dual booting, but this is too weird. Last two releases would not load...same hardware that previous distros loaded on with no problem...
Thanks for the response...
