Kiosk Software
Hello.
I run a small exhibit at a museum and science center I work at, InfoAge. I run a fallout shelter exhibit, which includes some sound bites as well as a few movies (currently played from a PC running Windows 2000.)
I want to make the exhibit somewhat autonomous. The computer displays on a 32" television. If I were to switch to Ubuntu, is there some software I could use to limit use of a computer to opening videos and sound bites? I plan on using a MAME-like control setup with only a few buttons to control functions.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks
Joe

Hello and welcome!
I'm not familiar with many of the business applications for Linux so can't recommend any specific app for your purpose, but check the following two sites for some apps that might work for you:
Linux App Finder | Helping find the Linux apps you need
The table of equivalents / replacements / analogs of Windows software in Linux. (Official site of the table)
If you should find something that you want to try, I'd recommend installing it with Synaptic if possible:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticHowto
In the interim, maybe someone else can recommend some specific apps for you.oz
