Problems With the Internet after upgrade to 10.04

Okay guys I'm somewhat of a newb, so you'll need to forgive me. After my "upgrade" to 10.04 I am unable to access the internet at home with wireless using Firefox, but am able to access the router. I am however able to access the internet at work, both use WPA password protection. I was also able to do the updates over wireless at home, despite not being able to access the internet. I am currently at work, and downloaded Google Chrome and did not import settings from Firefox, to see if there were any settings issues with Firefox itself. Any help would be appreciated.

here a general troubleshoot guide for network & internet connections; check each of these in this order:

1* are ip addresses set up correctly (dhcp/static)
2* check if you are able to access a site by entering the IP only; if yes do 3.1 or 3.2, if no goto 4
3.1* if static: check if dns servers are set up correctly
3.2* if dhcp: check if dns servers are provided correctly
4* if you cannot access internet with an ip, check if your router has established the connection (i.e. adsl can be closed)
5* if connection is open, check if there are problems with the laptop/router firewall
6* at last: query your ISP what he did wrong

PS: how to accomplish each task is well documented in google

Did you say that chrome worked? Did you try Opera? If these other browsers work then its' probably a firefox issue. Have you tried to reinstall firefox? If you can use update manager, which uses port 80 and 21, then you should be able to use a browser which use port 80. I would have to point the finger at the browser at that point.
