    Unhappy ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx

i updated my computer last night. it asked me if i wanted the new version of ubuntu...yes, waited 2 hours for it to download...i cant get my special graphics to work...i know that doesnt sound like a big thing but i like my expo, and if thats not working im not sure what else wont. im not sure if this has anything to do with it...but...i normally hook my computer to my rgb on my tv to watch movies, last night it wouldnt work, the tv said not supporting (im not spelling that wrong thats what it says) oh and on my dock it has a black box as the back ground but its 3 times the size of the cairo dock...i configured it so thats not the issue...unless i missed something, also

"the upgrade will continue but the '/var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2%3a8.723.1-0ubuntu3_i386.deb' package may not be in a working state. Please consider submitting a bug report about it"

that popped up in the end, everything else works fine, that i know of...

thanks guys for helping so many times, i truly try looking before i come here, this is always my last resort, just cuz i feel like such a blonde asking questions you guys dont second guess.

I would try downloading the cd and doing a fresh installation from scratch, that will usually sort out any problems since the upgrade process can be flaky. Did you create a separate home partition? That would make this process a little easier on you, but either way if you need to reinstall you should make sure to backup your important data first!

I agree with reed9 on this as I upgraded my Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 on my IBM M41 Desktop that runs wirelessly with compiz and advanced graphics. I don't run a seperate PCI graphics card though but use the motherboard supplied graphics chip.

Because I had a seperate /home all my changes to Desktop were saved during upgrade. Besides all other changes stored in /home. And yes. The graphical update (using update manager) takes a long time.

    Good luck with it just_linsies_fine.

Sounds like it's just a driver issue. what's the card name that isn't working? and have you tried to reinstall the fglrx_2%3a8.723.1-0ubuntu3_i386.deb package?

    gpt-install fglrx_2%3a8.723.1-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
The program 'gpt-install' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
    sudo apt-get install grid-packaging-tools

grid-packaging-tools: Depends: automake but it is not going to be installed
xorg-driver-fglrx: Depends: fglrx but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
    scott_linsie@desktop:~$ apt-get -f install
