    small issue after mint install

I just installed linux mint a couple of days ago and everything went great but now the grub screen takes about 20 seconds to a minute to load. It's not a huge issue but kind of annoying since the one that ubuntu installed took a second and I was at the menu. I imagine that it has to do with the background picture but i'm not sure if that would slow it down that much. Any suggestions?

My guess would be the background image. It has done that with me before, so I just don't bother with it. In theory it is a nice idea, nice eye candy to show off to people (Plus I think it is just cool, lol) But I would rather just get my computer booting as fast as I can.

I've seen that happen when trying to boot from an unclean Reiser partition. I wouldn't think ext4 (*buntu default) would have the same problem, but not impossible. You can try running a quick fsck to make sure the file system is clean.

In Debian distros (including all Ubuntu flavours) you can force a file system check by opening a terminal and typing sudo touch /forcefsck and then re-booting the computer. Note the gaps in the command,

Which version of Mint are you using? Post the output of this
    Code:
    sudo fdisk -l
    df -h
I don't think its a background problem because you can't use just any background for GRUB Menu. It doesn't allow to use image other than specified properties. ( 640x480, 14 colors pallet).
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
