Hey Guys i hope you can help,

in short, my computer is bricked.

I installed Ubuntu via Wubi, and all was fine it worked perfectly in fact, I installed updates they took effect and then when i went to restart to go on Vista, my computer startup wouldn't even go, it showed Hard Drive activity, but instead of going to the initial Intel startup screen it's just completely blank, won't do anything, and if you leave it for about 5 seconds it does it again; turns off then immediately turns on again. :O It was an expensive laptop and i hope it isn't bricked.

    Any ideas?

    Many Thanks

    p.s

    on startup: Fan starts up

    hard drive registers minimal activity
    (there's a little light)

completely blank screen, no keys work.

    Hello and Welcome!

I haven't had to tangle with Windows in quite a while, but have you tried to start your machine in Safe Mode? If there are any system non-critical files on board, those would be disabled to allow for boot purposes.

Other than that... I don't know.

This sounds like it's hardware related and not windows related since your not getting your intel startup screen. Have you tried to f2 on startup or whatever your bios setup is? This would be first, if this doesn't work there is a jumper on the motherboard that will reset your bios to default, you would have to take the bottom plate off and switch it. then boot into bios and restart. then you can power off the laptop and switch it back to normal setting. post back with your results.
