Which version of EEE? 701, 900 or 1000 or other? Open a terminal and do:
    Code:
    lspci | grep Ethernet
One of the lines will have the word "Atheros" or "Ralink" in it. If you can, post that line here by way of copying it to a .txt file to a usbstick to here, or simply writing it down and re-posting it here. Please include everything in the line.

Also, if you don't want to reinstall Windows because you don't want to have to fork out for an external dvd reader, you can try the following instructions:

    For Vista:
    http:!//ww!w.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/

    For Windows 7:
    http:!//store.microsoft.com/Help/ISO-Tool

Each of these require a 4GB thumbdrive and a working windows computer, however.

If you wish to continue using Ubuntu, have you tried checking for Restricted drivers? I'm working from memory here, but if you go to the System-->Administration menu and choose "Restricted Drivers" (or similar) a utility should come up that will help you sort this out. Having said that, this utility needs to download information from the internet, so you'd need to have your EEEPc plugged in to a LAN to get it to work.

    Good luck!

P.S. Sorry about the '!' in the links, LinuxForums won't let me post proper links until I've made 15 posts. Go figure :-/ Just delete the '!' and you should be fine.

    Hi,
I am useing the netbook remix at my eeePC atm. (1001P with Atheros)
    Have had the same problem.

To tell you the truth I don't remember the page where I found the solution ...

What needs to be done is:
    Download latest atheros driver modules.
compile them and install them ...
After that it worked ... I'll take a look if I can find the page with the detailed Information.
