After you install the first OS and try to install the 2nd OS, you are probably overwriting the first OS.

Read my tutorial here on how to multiboot a flash drive.

Ubuntu 4 You: MultiBootin With UNetbootin. A Multiboot Flash Drive Tutorial

    Enjoy!

That is a very nice tutorial TaZMAniac. I'm going to put it into my collection of "useful Linux stuff". Thanks. -Rubberman

TaZMAniac and who ever else that can help.

not doing any better at figuring this one out either. I want to dule boot Billix, f-secure-rescue-cd, and xununtu live 64. how do i do that? Billix and f-secure-rescue-cd both have folders called boot and KNOPPIX. Also the boot folder also have the syslinux.cfg as well the just the /syslinux.cfg in the main drive not in a folder. What do i do to fix this?

    Thanks Rubberman.
Glad you liked it. I'm not a technical writer but I tried hard to spell everything out.

    To lancebermudez,

You have to learn how to walk before you can run. What you are trying to do is like trying to run a marathon race before you even tired learning to walk.

Both Billix and F-Secure are multi-bootable systems.
It's a chore just getting a few single boot distros to multi-boot.
I've made several multi-boot Cd's and DVD's. My largest was a 20 in 1 and required 2 months to complete.

Before you try something like you are trying, you need to learn the basics and understand how everything works together. It's not just a matter of throwing together files and make it work. You need to understand what the syslinux.cfg file does and how it is structured.

You are also attempting to multi-boot distros with the same kernel. Depending on which version and distro it uses, it may require the kernel to be in the root folder.
If you have more then one in the root folder you will need to change some internal names in the initrd.gz. That alone took me a few days to learn and fully understand to the point I needed. I'm not even going to get into distros that use grub to boot the kernel.

I'm not saying this project is impossible. It will require a lot of work and reconfiguring the kernels and config files.
What I am suggesting is to start small and work up from there as your skills and knowledge grows.
Try my tutorial using the distro's I mention. It is a good base on which to build your skills.

Many readers have contacted me saying they started with my tutorial and have added more distros later on. One person has 10 distros loaded on one thumb drive!
    But he started with 2.

Sorry I can't give you the magic key or answer to your question. No one can. Only you can provide the answer but it will take effort and fun learning to arrive at the final destination.

Good luck and enjoy the thrill when you reach each new step of your journey.

Hi Taz. I love the fact that you wrote that tutorial, good work man. I have a couple of cds from linux mags that have 5 distros in multi boot and works great. I have also found a multicd script online that I wonder if anyone else has tried out yet? multicd.sh. it sounds like it does exactly what you guys are needing and it's all automated.

    Hi hatebreed,
Glad you like the tutorial and thank you.
Yes, I have seen and used that script when I first started making multiboot disks.
It helped me understand the structure and needed files. In fact it is the first link on my multiboot resources page given below.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for every distro out there. That is why I started making my own. It is a good script for those who want to get started.

I also have a list of links on my blog for creating multi-boot disks. These are the resources I used to learn what I needed to create my own disks.
    Here's the link;

    Ubuntu 4 You: Multiboot Links

Hope this helps a lot of people. And maybe I will have time one day to write my own tutorial. No promises though.
