Trying to listen to some streaming radio
I have an account to log into Coasttocoastam.com and listen to the streaming audio.
On windows it plays with either Windows Media Player OR Real Player.
I've always just used Windows media player.
Now that I'm installed Ubuntu 10.04 when I go the site ... of course I click it to copy what it's doing... and XINE is displaying.. and I see it's buffering.. and then starts to play.
My question is answered. Sweet, you guys are great! ya fixed it before I could even really ask!
Thanks
Doug

I'm glad you are satisfied with your solution but just for fun I guess... install VLC. It works well with Windows media streams. VLC is installable via the Synaptic package manager in your menu.

Vlc
I see I have Mozilla-VLC Plugin installed. Is there something I need to make it active to where it will do what it's supposed to other than Xine?
Thanks

VLC just might have more features you like. It's a good idea to try them all and see what works best for you. Check in your menu and see if VLC is listed there. I don't think it will be so you can install it via the "Synaptic package manager" also in your menu. Or from the command line for the browser plugin:
Then...Code:sudo apt-get update
Code:sudo apt-get install mozilla-plugin-vlc

Good Afternoon Dapper.
I just ran that apt-get update and install.
This is what I got.
doug@Linux-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install mozilla-plugin-vlc
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
mozilla-plugin-vlc is already the newest version.

When I look in Firefox and the plugins I see that VLC is in there. I don't know how to make it use it though. I also see Xine in the plugins also. Maybe I just disable the xine and it will force it to use the vlc??

Yep, means it's installed. In that utility, you can choose VLC plugin if you wish instead of totem but whatever works you know.... Probably means VLC is in your menu too. If not, then I guess its front end needs to be installed.
