Ubuntu Wi-Fi issue - works in Crunch Bang Linux
Hi
I have been playing around with some different Linuxes recently and have ended up with Crunch Bang, simply because it was easiest to install and recognise my wi-fi connection.
These are old laptops I am working with but the all singing and dancing version was, Crunch Bang where as Ubuntu simply just had trouble with it. I was on the verge of doing a work around by downloading drivers etc but then I thought, if it works with Crunch Bang, then why should I bother with Ubuntu and the whole hard work around using it.
Anyway... I did like the look of Ubuntu and would like to give it a second chance later (even though I do like the look of Statler which is the new Crunch Bang) so I was wondering if people knew of a quick work around the Wi-Fi issue in Ubuntu which I have seen a number of people have had trouble with online.
Thanks.

Hello kablamo!
Welcome to LF
As per my own litlle experience, wireless in ubuntu is one of those that gives lesser headache. But then again, that might depend on the hardware and the version you are trying to install.
After installation, can you please give all the informations asked for here.
It might help if you can also tell us what version of ubuntu your trying to use.
Thanks!nujinini

I would try this first. at the grub boot menu find the kernel line which starts with linux and add acpi=off at the end of it. some older systems have issues with acpi and don't work correctly.
