    Hello, I am completely new in Ubuntu and I am facing problems installing Java (the JDK , not the JRE) in Ubuntu 10.04. Any kind of help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

    Please explain in some detail how you went about installing the jdk.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    install it with synaptic package manager

    just search for jdk, there is openjdk and sun jdk, both are in there

    Thanks for replying soon. I was trying to install it by using the chmod command on the .bin file
