Ubuntu on laptop
I have become a recent fan of linux and I want to install ubuntu on my acer aspire 5630 because vista runs terrible on it. Everything seems to work fine when I run it off the cd im just wondering if it will still work great when i actually install it. Is there any big deference between running the os off the cd compared to when you actually install it?

As ozar mentioned already, it will be huge performance difference. LiveCD OS runs from RAM only and uses SWAP space, if there is any in Hard disk.
If you are new to Linux then I would suggest you to go for Dual boot ( install Linux along with Windows OS ). You will have option to boot up either Windows OS or Linux at boot up.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I agree with casper, you should always start off with a dual boot in case you need windows to run software you can't get on linux or can't get to work with wine. and if you play games or use netflix, you definately want to keep windows around just for that.
