Ubuntu Live hanging on loading essential drivers... ...

    Hi all,

I'm trying to recover files from a desktop PC which has 4 HD running on a RAID (0+1) set-up.

Now it would appear that either Vista Raid has failed (which I think will be the issue) or one or more of the HD partions has become corrupt.

So, I have installed Ubuntu Live on USB and have succesfully booted; however, Ubuntu does not appearing to be loading as it is stuck on "loading essential drivers".

I left this for 10min and still nothing; therefore does anyone have any ideas on why this may be the case and what to do to combat this?

    Thanks

When you say that you have booted successfully, do you mean that you did that on a different computer?

I'll state that I don't have any experience with RAID whatsoever, but the problem you are reporting seems to have to do with trouble reading the drivers from the USB. Do you have a CD/DVD reader on the system to try a LiveCD instead? Should things fail at the same stage, we could derive that the problem is in the fact that some of the "essential drivers" is prevented from running normally from some malfunctioning hardware.
