flash is a processor destroyer on linux, since adobe doesn't really care much about it it isn't optimized very well

you may need to install proprietary graphics driver, did you check system->hardware drivers menu to see if it is available?

    Execute this in Terminal :
    Code:
    lspci | grep -i vga
    Post output here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Is there any xorg.conf file in /etc/X11? Post its contents here.
Which version of Ubuntu are you using?

    Hello,
the driver that improves performance of video card in ATI cards is fglrx. This driver could be download from ati page or install it from synaptic running the below command in a terminal (i think that you must activate the canonical repository):
    sudo apt-get install fglrx
This package provides 2D display drivers and hardware accelerated OpenGL.
By the other hand, you could install privative software from Adobe:
    apt-get install flashplugin-installer
this can improve the performance of flash videos.

    I hope this help you

    hi,
first of all, what means @[myname], sorry, but i'm new in this forum. ;D
    remove xserver-xorg-video-ati
if that dont fix the problem, remove fglrx and install again xserver-xorg-video-ati and check that firefox and youtube run fine.
fglrx could cause problems and native flash does not work very well.
You can also download last version of fglrx from ati what could works well and improve grafics.
I had intalled nvidia and ati drivers and ATI does not work so well (in my case).

Just that the reply is meant as a response to your earlier reply, as opposed to a general reply to all in the thread.
