Windows program problem
This is a little sad.. I've used Ubuntu on laptops before and never encountered problems with this. Now I installed Ubuntu on my new laptop and encountered two problems immediately. One of them is solved, thanks to this wonderful community. The other problem is this:
I can't run "In The Groove 2.exe"
This is a game that I really would like on my laptop. When I tried to play the game on my other laptop with Ubuntu it worked perfectly (using wine), but on this.., nothing happens
. The mouse pointer turns into a loader for some seconds and then nothing.
Also wine works on this laptop when I run "Spotify.exe" so there shouldn't be any problem with wine.
Thanks a bunch

Which version of Ubuntu are you running now, and which did you run before when your game worked?

Myself, I'd stick with 9.04 for now. There were a lot of major architecture changes between 9.04 and 10.04, such as replacing the HAL with something called DeviceKit. It has, AFAIK, been the source of a lot of hardware related issues that people have encountered running 10.04 (Karmic Koala). It is possible that this has caused some interactions with Wine and your game, which is probably pretty hardware resource intensive. Have you gone to WineHQ - Run Windows applications on Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X and looked at what they say about it working with 10.04?

I've installed Ubuntu 9.04 but it still doesn't work, which is odd.
And my old wireless network problem is back, linuxforums.org/forum/ubuntu-help/166047-wireless-network-problem-2.html.

Well, one thing I have found with Linux and interactions with Windows is if you disable the wireless radio in Windows, then Linux can't enable it. I don't suppose that this is a possibility?

That's very much possible.

So, if you can dual-boot your system into Windows, you can make sure that the wireless radio is enabled. I've had to do that in my laptop from time to time. Kind of one of those "Doh!" moments!

In any case, it seems that Windows does something to the flash bios settings. It may be possible to re-enable it via some setting in /proc, but I don't know what it would be. It would be worth some investigation, however. I may go ahead and do some fiddling on my laptop in the meantime to see if I can "fix" this from Linux. If I find out anything, I'll report back here. If you find out anything before I do, let us know also. TAL.

Okey, thanks. Unfortunately I overwrote Windows when I installed Ubuntu... Will try to get a version of windows to install.

But then how to solve the problem why wine and the program?
