[SOLVED] Question On Wicd And Network

I am currently using my wicd manager to connect to a wired interface (in a hotel).
I successed in win 7 but not ubuntu.
Previously, I created a wpa_supplicant file to connect to my wireless at home.

Now, do I have to delete it?
Now do I have to change the nameserver or anything to connect to the interface?
    It just isnt working.

Also what level of Linux proficiency do you all have?
    Lp1 LP4?
    ANy recommended books?

I wouldn't delete wpa_supplicant.conf but rather rename it to something else. Is the network card being detected? Is it listed in WICD? Have you ever used it successfully with Linux before?

Well I solved it. dhclient eth0.
But my checking network interfaces still take a long time.
