    It dosent play even MP3 and more questions

    Well the music player should be compatible with formats like MP3, .vl .wmv .dat etc
    out of the box .
    Since I cant go online with ubuntu how can i download the add ons by another computer and install them in ubuntu .

    Last question how I install an application in ubuntu which is in (.bz2) format

    please explain me in lay man's terms

    as I am new to ubuntu

    MP3 isn't played out of the box as it is illegal in some places. It is as simple as installing a package called ubuntu-restricted-extras; when you can get online that is.

    Did you not try the solution you found for getting online in your other thread?

    A .bz2 file is an archive. it is like a zip file. Right click
    and extract. What you do now depends on what's in there.
    Read any README files and other text files like INSTALL

    If it is a ready to install program, there will be a script that you
    execute. If it is source code, the instructions for compiling will
    be there in the README or INSTALL file.

    Well I am new to ubuntu and simple tasks are mount for me .
    Even i cant install a vlc player (offilne) even i tried my best for four days

    Ubuntu is definitely an internet oriented operating system.
    Unfair though it may be, software developers are increasingly
    assuming that you have an internet connection.
