If you have added the ipaddress, I take it you are using a fixed ip address.
Have you checked that you have also supplied a gateway and dns address?
Also, if a fixed ip address, have you tried pinging other machines on the network or tried pinging a known site by ip address,
If this works, your dns/gateway settings are wrong.

whych, thanks for your reply. To bee completely honest I don't think its supposed to be a static ip address and yes i did put in the correct dns and gateway. I tried first just putting in the wpa password and clicking apply, then OK and still nothing, I'm not at all familiar with kubuntu and i'm just finding my way around in it. I'm just not sure what to do next. I've tried all i can think of but then I'm no expert but i will keep trying, with the help of some great people in here.

    Thanks

Try getting the connection settings from a pc that does connect. Check, in particular, the key and key number.
Now go back to your kinternet connection and right click and select edit.
You should be able to edit the connection and change the key number.
If it's your access point, try setting it to open with no encryption and see if it works. You can then make the changes to security after you have got the connection working.
(Sorry I use gnome, so not too clued up on kde's kinternet choices, but it should work similarly to gnome.)
