Startup Screen Resolution for a Widescreen

Hi. I am running linuxmint . Trying to configure my start-up resolutions using the Startup Manager. But they only offer 4:3 resolutions. (My screen is a widescreen, 1600 by 900). So I could check the 1600 x 1200 option but that is not the correct resolution. And I get a reminder from my screen that the resolution is wrong. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Greetings.

What I regard as a start-up resolution can be configured with the kernel vga option in the boot manager. It could be one of 796-799, but I'm just not sure at this. So ask a search engine for a list of vga modes. This is also where you'll find how to put the right one for your boot manager (grub, lilo, ..) to the right place of the configuration.

You can fix it in your xorg.conf as well, I believe.

Here is a thread from the Mint Forums that may help a bit.

    forums(.)linuxmint(.)com/viewtopic(.)php?f=147&t=51677&p=298037&hilit=xorg# p298037

Just take out the brackets when you copy and paste. (Got to get those 15 Posts in LF)

    Hope This Helps,
    Dave
