Question Adjusting Display Focus In Ubuntu 10.04

Have Ubuntu 10.4 32 bit on PC with Radeon 9200 SE. Can't get it to display stuff with good focus on screen in difference from windows on same PC that displays stuff just fine. Tried to change refresh rate with no success. Is there some utility that might do the trick ? For NVIDIA cards there's a cool utility called nvidia-settings but for ATI i didn't find any similar utility. Has anyone encountered same problem ?

p.s. the driver for linux for Radeon 9200 series that's available on internet, what i found is only freeBDS and similar from 2006 - quite old stuff.

looking fw for some help, meanwhile returned only to windows on this pc...

What happens if you use the generic VESA driver? Also, I assume you are running a CRT and not an LCD or plasma flat panel display?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

I'm using an LCD 20" screen - not CRT. This is exactly why it is frustrating so much. The ubuntu installs the default driver it comes with and i ran all the automatic updates that the ubuntu asked me to. Does this mean i'm using the generic VESA driver ? If not, where do i get it ? In windos it's very simple where & how to get such drivers and fix settings, but alas in linux i didn't find it simple in this matter at least not when the graphic card is ATI radeon not really new off-the-shelf card. Strange... The strangest thing is that in windows there's no problem at all - the driver works dandy with great focus on same screen same scan rate. Odd and sad.
