    Quick question about re-install (LTS)

    Hi,

I've been running Lynx for a few weeks, using books to learn. A while ago, I ran the halt command instead of shutdown(not good, I know this now)... I sometimes have error messages on shutdown (broken pipes). Vuze (a bit torrent client) also went screwy and won't download anymore.

I have already moved my C files to a USB disk, don't really have anything irreplaceable anyway.

    Lowdown:

Vista and LTS dual boot, partitioned.
Vista was installed first (still functional)
Linux still has much of its functionality.

However I would like to start fresh, and continue learning command line techniques on a stable OS; what's the most reliable way to re-install Ubuntu on the same box? I don't care if I lose my preferences, etc, I just want to essentially clear the Linux partition that exists now, and get a clean version on there.

And yes, I have a LiveCD, current installation was installed without issue using the same CD.

Boot up from LiveCD and install again on existing Ubuntu partition. Existing installation will be removed in this way and you will have fresh OS.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
