    About mouse wheel

    Hi folks,

    Ubuntu 1004

    How to adjust the rotation speed of the mouse wheel? It rotates too fast. A slight turn on the wheel moves the screen up/down too fast. I have to move the screen up/down by sliding the side bar.

    TIA

    The desktop manager configuration tools will provide you the ability to refine the sensitivity of these things. For KDE, it is the control module. You can set the number of lines that each click of the scroll will scroll. For example, on my CentOS workstation, the KDE desktop is set to scroll 3 lines / click. You should be able to change this on Ubuntu in the Gnome/Desktop configuration tools. Look under the Administration->Settings menu, or something like that. Sorry, but my Ubuntu system (laptop) is not online right now, so that is as close of a hint as I can provide at the moment.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your advice.

    I'm running Gnome here. No Settings menu there

    System -> Preferences -> Mouse
    General tab;
    Mouse Orientation
    Locate Pointer
    Pointer Speed
    Drag and Drop
    Double-Click Timeout

    Accessibility tab;
    Simulated Secondary Click
    Dwell Click

    No item in connection with mouse wheel.

    Tried 'Pointer Speed" without result.

    IIRC previously it was in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

    Have you tried KDE? Personally, I prefer it, but I do use Gnome on my laptop (too lazy to change).

    Hi,

    I ran KDE for sometimes in the past. Gnome is Ubuntu default installation. Therefore I just keep it. If NO solution then I'll leave it as it is. Thanks
