package manager freezes
when i try and install from package manager in Kubuntu 64 bit it freezes after 5% done. when i try and install updates it also freezes. it took me a long time to hook the the Internet as i tried to get my wireless card to work. i ended up connecting with Ethernet cable but i tried allot of commands trying to install wireless card. could i have made the connection somehow not work right? if i try a direct download it seems to do fine and sometimes, to install Firefox, the package manager finally worked but most every time it freezes. any ideas?

Hi,
it is necesary to know more details....
- Your connection is fine, i mean if you can navigate smoothly.
Please, report:
nslookup "www.google.es"
ping 66.249.92.104
sudo ifconfig
sudo iwconfig
- What repositories have you in /etc/apt/sources.list?
cat /etc/apt/sources.list
- When you try to install packages using apt-get, what is the error message?
Regards!

Execute this
Does it freeze anywhere?Code:sudo apt-get clean all sudo apt-get update
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

That is kind of a generic error... I've had it more than once on multiple distros.
As far as looking for 64-bit packages... you might just be SOL
You may be able to compile them from source, but there are some apps that don't have a native 64-bit package available.Jay
