    Creative soundblaster prob xf

    Hi Guys, first of all, let me say I am a complete Noob where Linux is concerned. I finally took the courage to install Unbuntu a couple of days ago. Very pleased how easy it went on. However, I found out that it is not compatable with the Creative sound blaster gaming card. So at the moment I do not have any sound. Now what I wanted to ask you is this, even though I still have Win xp on my other HD, would it be better if I took the sound blaster Gaming card out altogether. And would the on board sound work better with Unbuntu or even any Linux System for that matter.

    I've personally never had "no sound" problems with soundblaster cards under any Linux distro. Do keep in mind that sound is often muted when Linux is first installed. You can find a couple of really good troubleshooting articles here:
