Which version of Ubuntu are you using right now? What are the errors you are planning to repair?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I have a few problems that have been bugging me and have not been able to make progress with them via the forums:
    1. The "Shut down" and "restart" does not work
    2. The system keeps shutting down from time to time, "running low in graphics" wanting to run in low graphics mode.
    3. Unable to activate shortcut to Nautilus and to access Nautilus
    4. When I open pdf documents the system freezes for a while

    Am using Ubuntu 10.04

You can use 10.04 CD to edit conf files or re-install Ubuntu.
Boot up from LiveCD and check if LiveCD has same problems as installed system.
