Wireless problem

I am using Linux Mint, which is based off Ubuntu, so I figured this is the appropriate forum to place this question. I have a strange wireless problem for which I have not been able to find a decent solution online. Sometimes I log in, and the computer connects to the internet very well. At other times, it can find the network, but refuses to log in. I know that it's an issue with my computer, as my roommates can both continue to access internet even during these periods. All it takes is a reset of the router, and then I can log in fine. The problem is, I can't keep resetting the router each day as I am fairly sure that that is not good for it. Also, I don't think it's the physical location of my computer, as I can still always log into the network through Windows 7 (I have dual boot). Finally, it's something between the router and my computer, as I can sometimes access the admittedly weak but public network next door while I can't access the home network. Also, the connection has not been dropped once established. It is always upon startup or reboot that the connection fails.
