    Record from line in....

    Hi All,

Trying to do something really simple. Just record from a line in. I have a tape that I need to convert to a ogg for a friend and I thought it'd be really simple. I'm using my headphone out from the tape player, mic in on the computer. Tried using default sound recorder as well as audacity and both just give me nothing.

Went into alsamixer settings, set recording to "line in" instead of mic, also went into sound preferences made "connector" = line in and made sure it was not muted.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all

I am using Amarok (downloadable trough Ubuntu software centre) for this purpose.
I am ripping my music CD's with it

    Edit.
Hmm. think i have reading your post too quickly.
Have you tried to copy the contents of the Tape on a CD ? (wav.. or someting like that).
And then have the contents of the cd converted in Ogg ?

I don't have a way to get it to a cd without first getting it on my computer.
