jumpy HDTV playback
I finally got a 1080 HDTV to connect to my Linux media PC and have started to download some HD Blueray movies. I had been downloading AVI files in standard def for a long time with no problems, but the HD movies are unwatchable because the picture stutters. Not sure if it is hardware, software, or a setup issue.
Seems that all the torrents on HD are in .MKV format so that is what I have tried. I have tried 720 and 1080. 720 works better, but still stutters. Here is what I have:
Main PC
Ubuntu 10.04
AMD Athlon 64 X 2 dual core 5600+
4 gig memory
2800 MHz
Nvidia Geforce 9500GT with 1 gig memory
Bedroom PC is:
Intel DG45FC motherboard with onboard video
Core 2 Duo E7500 processor
2.93 GHz
4 Gig RAM
Bedroom PC works a little better, but same issues.
Have not tried just playing a blueray disk as I have no discs and no blueray drives in the computers.
On the main PC I have tried Totem, Mplayer, and VLC with the same results. On the Nvidea controls I have moved the slider from quality to performance and 720P is watchable, but still stutters occasionally, and stutters too much with anything else open. On the system monitor it shows the processors near 100% on both machines. Any suggestions are welcome.

It is against the policy of these forums to give advice that advocate illegally download movies/tv shows/etc...I am not going to say that you are for sure doing it but by saying you are downloading "HD Content" it seems likely and you're unlikely to get a lot of advice
