Ubuntu Install remains on Startup screen

hey, i'm new to the forums so i don't know if i made this topic in the right place - but anyway, i installed ubuntu via virtualbox one day for fun, just to test it out. I didn't really need it, so i deleted the partition it was on and resized my hard drive. Thing is, when i startup my computer, ubuntu is still listed as an operating system, but whenever i go to choose it, my computer says "this file is missing or corrupt." I was just wondering if i make it so Ubuntu is not even shown on the screen anymore. Thanks.

If you are using linux as your base system, I guess you'll have to remove the vitualbox/ubuntu entry from the grub menu. keywords here are "grub", "boot loader".

Windows 7 re-install should have removed Linux Entry from Boot Loader.

Boot from your Windows 7 DVD, select your language and then to choose the repair option. At the repair option, choose the command prompt and execute this command:
    Code:
    bootsect /nt60 C:
    Reboot machine.

about the CD... it actually belonged to a friend of mine that recently left the area, so i can't really get another except buying one, and OS cds are expensive, lol.

Any other ideas you might be able to provide?

I had the same problem in XP. Google 'modify windows boot file'. You should get an article from microsoft.com that explains the procedure, which involved going to :

Start -> Run -> type: sysdm.cpl, and modifying the boot.ini file.

    I cannot post url's here.

There is no boot.ini file in windows 7 as it uses a different bootloader. You could go to neosmart site and download EasyBCD to modify your win 7 bootloader.

Windows Vista Recovery Disc Download — The NeoSmart Files

Scroll down the page for the windows 7 recovery disk download.
