Live CD
Hello everyone. I'm having problems with my live CD and was wondering if you folks could help. It works fine and loads, but when I hit enter to "try Ubuntu w/o installing" it restarts the system again. I checked the CD and I burned it correctly. Any ideas?

Did you do the md5checksum after download to verify it? Instructions are usually on download page.
Do other CDs work in the drive?

Other CD's work, and this one does, almost. For some reason it just wants to restart the computer once I click the #1 option to try w/o installing.

Have you tried same CD on other machine? Post your machine's specs here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

It's a Gateway pre-packaged model. I don't know if the BIOS is messing with the start up. That's an area I don't have a lot of experience with.

When the cd boots, if you push F6 you can alter the startup.
Try removing "quiet --" at the end of the line and see if any error messages appear.
Also, if that doesn't work try adding "nomodeset"(without quotes).

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "removing quiet". I tried to add nomodeset by checking the box, but it didn't change anything. It just reboots. Then I see the Gateway logo with the Pentium 4 logo, then it starts all over again. I get the purple screen, then it asks me to choose a language, I choose english, then option #1, then it reboots. I don't get it.
