Need A-Z help
I need a lot of help, I am trying to install ubuntu 10.04 via an 8gig USB drive.
I have no idea where to start or what to do when I do.
I'm completely new to linux, and BTW I'm open to any suggestions on other distros.
I'm using a 14 year old compaq and XP is just too much for it.
Is there a program I can use to download and install it all in one or what.
I have 10.04 downloaded but my computer is trying to use roxio CD creator 5 to do whatever it's doing.
I seriously need help.

Hello and Welcome!

Read this... it should get you going: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ins...ll-cd-dvd.html
When I made the move to Linux, I was using XP. The tool I found easiest to use was Feinman's Power Toy. Works a treat

You may also use Unetbootin to install a distro for you. Works from Windows or Linux.
UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads
I suggest that you try a distro for older hardware...a 14 yr old machine is going to need all the help it can get.

Sounds like probably a P200 - P266 with 64MB Ram. If you can upgrade to at least 256 MB Ram, you will do better. Ubuntu 10.04 takes 512 MB Ram or more to run right. AntiX, Puppy, or Tiny core would be your best bet for an older low ram system. Good luck.
