    Exclamation Unique Grub 13 error

A friend of mine (who has moved) set up my computer for me so that I could use Windows on one HDD and Kubuntu on another HDD.

Last week my power supply degraded. ( died more or less) it would pass a tester but was not handeling a load. Anyways I needed to get a computer running. So I took the HDD's out of the one unit and installed them in another PC case and on a diferent mother board. This did not work.

So after testing some know good power supplies I purchased a new 600 Wat and installed it on the original board and placed the HDD's back in the unit.

All set and ready to rock I turned the unit on and:

The computer starts up and stops at the normal Choose which OS to boot screen.

    I choose Windos XP

It gives me Grub 13 error

I shut down and choose Kubuntu and it starts up fine. There are updates to 9.10
    Select to install them.

After install the system restarts and:

Xp gives me Grub_ and I can not enter any key strokes, Kubuntu HDD says it is corrupt.

I only have one computer so I download a ubuntu rescue disk. It will not run.

I have tried to do a fresh install and even setting the bios up to boot from CD it will not read the ISO file.

I have another HDD a 500 Gig, it currently has an unregistered version of XP on it and will not load the drivers for the eathernet so I can attempt to run Ubuntu to replace XP.

My 750 gig HDD has all of my family pictures music and video on it. I do not have the exerience to edit the Grub on that drive either.

I know this is allot and I do hope someone can help me! Please! I am due to deploy next week and can not afford to buy another computer, I also do not want to go 9 months without contact with me family. If you think you can help me please please Do.

    Hi and Welcome !

Xp gives me Grub_ and I can not enter any key strokes, Kubuntu HDD says it is corrupt.
When select Kubuntu in GRUB Menu, exactly what error message does it throw?
I have tried to do a fresh install and even setting the bios up to boot from CD it will not read the ISO file.
How did you burn ISO file to CD? Which package did you use to burn it?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Unique Grub error problem

When I book XP it gives me Grub 13.

The Kubuntu HDD crashed. head parked.

have a 500gig HDD with an unregistered XP OS but will not allow drivers to be updated. can't connect to the net.

I used Nero to burn the Ubuntu 10.4 disk. I used the computer at whork. which is where I am not. Broker down POS is at home.

I am a linux idiot. Don't know it from my back door.

Lets fix Windows OS first. Boot up from Windows Installation CD ( It doesn't matter if it is licensed or not. We are going to use it for fixing MBR only. ) and select Repair. Execute fixmbr command at repair prompt and reboot machine. Check if Windows OS boot up fine.
