    network connections

i've just recently installed ubuntu 10.4 and i'm having some difficulty sorting out my network connections. i've got the broadcom 4401 ethernet and 4309 wireless devices but i need drivers for them and the means to install them. Currently i'm using an alternate computer and flash drive to make this happen but there is also a bridged connection that works with my xbox, however it won't register on my computer. i've checked the connect to wireless and ethernet box in user settings, but still don't see the network manager icon in the upper right corner. Any suggestions?

    Hello,
i think that due to my poor english i dont understand your question.
have you network interfaces?have you installed needed drivers?
    Please, report:
    sudo ifconfig

In "alternate computer" all works ok?How have you configured bridged connection in that alternate computer?

    Sorry for the inconvenience
    Regards
