Disappearing desktop icons
Both my laptop computers use Ubuntu 9.04, and both had the same bug for a long time. If I open the Rubbish (Dustbin) folder to look at files that have been deleted, all the icons on the desktop disappear and the folder content is not displayed. The desktop(s) are blank except for the background picture. I can get the icons back on the desktop by either switching off and re-starting, or click - 'empty the deleted items'. If the folder is already empty, then I don't have this problem.
One laptop uses the standard Ubuntu desktop settings and layout, the other uses Cairo-dock. If a file or folder has been moved to the dustbin by mistake, then it is no longer possible to retrieve it (I've just lost a file because of this
)
Is there an easy way of removing this bug?The world is run by educated idiots - you can't argue with idiots, they have had years of practice.
