    shopping for a mother board cpu combo maybe

    i was looking at this mother board

    ASUS M4A785-M AMD.

    they are both reasonably priced

    but i found this one and was wondering which would be better for Ubuntu 10.04

    GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

    and cpu

    AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor ADX250OCGQBOX


    thank you. i googled it but all i could find is older ubuntu distro

    Either of these should be just fine for most any recent Linux distribution. I haven't personally used either Gigabyte or ASUS mobos (my workstation has an Intel board), but I haven't heard anything particularly negative about either. The main issues would be how fast you can clock the boards and how much and what kind of RAM they take.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
