    Evolution Email Client

    Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this, but I've been having difficulties setting up the Evolution Email client (that came with Ubuntu when I installed it). I've put it the smtp and pop servers, but when I try to recieve mail it says "Error Fetching Mail". This could be because it didn't ask me for my password and I don't know how to put my password in. How do I make fetching mail work, and where do I enter my password?

    Thanks

    In Evolution;
    Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Accounts.
    Select your account and click edit and then switch to the Receiving Email tab.
    Make sure the authentication type is correct for your ISP.
    Click OK.

    When you Click Send / Receive from the main toolbar, it should ask you for your password.

    If you have told Evolution to remember a password and want to change it, then simply click File -> Forget Passwords (This will forget all passwords!)
    If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)

    My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

    When I click Send / Receive from the main toolbar, a window appears with the orange progress bar, but it doesn't ask for my password. have tried deleting the account and creating it again, but it still doesn't work

    Have you tried File -> Forget Passwords?

    Can you go to your account settings (Edit -> Preferences) and check whether or not the mail client is using the right authentication method?

    For example, in my case it needs to be set to password in the receiving part and to plain in the sending part of the account. Evolution provides (at least in my case) a button which enables you to check.
