    Removed Pulse, no media keys

    Hi All,

I removed pulse because of an issue with HDMI sound, that issue is completely solved now that I'm only using ALSA but I have two issues:

    1. My media keys don't higher/lower/mute volume

    2. When I go to system -> preferences -> sound, it just comes up with a "waiting for sound system to respond" (but my sound works fine, everything is smooth without pulse other than these two issues)

    Thanks all

Hmm, well Pulse shouldn't be connected to the multimedia key support in GNOME. At least, last time I installed GNOME in Arch, I did not include pulseaudio and my multimedia keys worked fine. However, I have had them stop working for no discernible reason before. It seemed to be connected to a corrupted config file, since deleting the configs and restarting fixed it. I'm afraid I don't remember what exactly I deleted. Probably ~/.gconf.

just go to system settings--> keyboard shortcuts.

you should at least be able to set up your volume keys again.

    that's all i know.
