The best way to install wine is through the Ubuntu package manager in your menu. Look for "Synaptic."
Running MS Office under wine is problematic. See here for more. If you still want to give it a go, open a terminal and cd to where the install .exe is and do:
If you cannot live without MS Office, the best option is to run it naively under Windows or in Windows installed inside a virtual machine. OpenOffice and Abiword do an excellent job under Linux.Code:wine (whatever_the_installer_name_is_).exe

Have you checked their documentation, faq, and wiki pages?
WineHQ - Documentation
FAQ - The Official Wine Wiki
FrontPage - The Official Wine Wiki
They cover the usage of Wine pretty well and are good links to keep handy if you will be continuing to use Wine.oz

- 10-24-2010 #8Look at this page again;It says 2007 works fine.
WineHQ - Microsoft Office (installer only)
The Office 2007 Installer is rated as Silver.
But if you look below the Installer ratings you will see the individual component ratings such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
The ratings for those components span from garbage to gold but they require a bit of configuring not to mention getting activation to work.
Good luck!
