    Headphones Unequal

    Hi All,

I just bought the new Sony X-Series mp3 player and it came with some nice headphones. For some reason in Ubuntu the sound is uneven, right ear is much louder than the left. Headphones work fine in Windows, works fine with the player and with another mp3 player. Other headphones work find in Linux....these are noise canceling headphones, not sure if that makes a differences. Any ideas?

Go to a command line and execute the command: alsamixer
That will give you a semi-gui (text-based graphics) interface to your sound system (alsa). You can balance the output there.

Should have mentioned that I already tried alsamixer and alsamixergui, neither has "left/right" controls, only a combined "headphones" control
