Unhappy [SOLVED] Uploading Music files from MTP to Ubuntu?

How does one transfer music from a MTP device to the Music folder? Or upload music from the MTP device to programs such as RhythmBox, Banshee, etc.? I have tried using Gnomad2 to no avail and I have exhausted my self searching the online Ubuntu community forums and doing searches on search engines regarding this subject reading through countless article of users trying to get Linux system to recognize or mount their MTP devices.

My system does recognize and mount my MTP device (Creative Zen Micro) and the Music Players (RhythmBox, Banshee, Amarok, VLC, XBMC) all access and play the music without any problems. I just want to transfer or copy the music from my MTP device to my system.

Can any one please tutor me in this matter. Linux newbie here with some knowledge of how Linux Ubuntu works, for the most part. Thank you.

    Hello and Welcome.
Use your file manager to transfer the files. You need to browse to /media probably and see what's in there.

I am in file manager and have opened the files to my device. Opened the MTP device Music folder and see all the music files. So do I Copy the music folder itself and Paste into my Home > Music folder? I am familiar with the windows way of doing this but unsure of Linux way. I just do not want to create a mess, as I can sometimes do.

Hmm. If your file manager is treating the device like USB storage, are you sure you're in MTP mode?

I personally just use MSC mode, which treats the player as a mass storage device. Then you can drag and drop or copy/paste with your file manager. I've not used a Creative Zen player, but I assume you can switch modes. With MTP, you do need to do it through a program like Rhythmbox, Amarok, whatever has MTP support. Within those programs, you should just be able to right click and look for an option to copy.

Hey thanks MikeTbob and Reed9 for your help. Just had to copy and paste to the folder of my choice. And then use the Player of my choice to scan folders to add to library. Once again thanks for your help!
