    [SOLVED] Please help me, newish to linux

    Hi i have recently went to linux (ubuntu) from windows. My friend was telling me to do something in a terminal to run i guess a virtural box so i could play a game. long story short it didnt copy paste correctly and now my comp is running slow as can be, and im getthing this error in the upper right of my screen

    E: Malformed line 54 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
    E: The list of sources could not be read.
    Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.
    E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

    If anyone can tell me what i can do to fix this i would really appriciate it. Also i wouldnt even mine completly reloading linux again but im not sure how and i dont have the CD for it.

    I have some work to do on my comp for school so if anyone can help me asap i would really appriciate it.

    Open your sources list. To do this, open a Terminal and issue the command: gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.

    Look at line 54 for an error. You could make this line ineffective by putting at the beginning of the line: #

    If you can't see an error let us have a look. Copy and Paste your sources list here.

    Seems to have done the trick, had to do it to a few more lines but no more error messages.

    Thanks so much.
