Question about WUBI
Does any other distro use WUBI or a similar package & would it add more OS entries to the Windows chainloader or just knock out Ubuntu? This is what happens when I try to install LinuxMint inside Windows after doing likewise with Ubuntu 10.04 (but both are Ubuntu releases). So, for example, is there a similar downloader & installer for Fedora & would it add itself underneath Ubuntu in the chainloader or just replace Ubuntu with itself?

Wubi (Ubuntu installer) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to that page, you may want to take a look at Win-32 Loader http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Win32-loader_(Debian) and see if that does it for you.
As far as whether or not it would add entries to your current bootloader (last time I tried Wubi it installed GRUB) or wipe out your Ubuntu distribution, that depends on the distribution and whether or not you choose to install a new bootloader or decline to install one and modify the existing bootloader, the subsequent distributions in new partitions or write over your old ones.
Every time I have installed multiple Linux distributions that use GRUB, they have detected the other Linux (and Windows) installations and created a new GRUB. 95% of the time autodetected the older entries and added them before asking me to verify the settings just prior to writing to the master boot record.
I hope that helps you.
