    870A Fuzion
Hi, i have the following hardware and it is a new build....

870A Fuzion with Lucid Hydra chipset
    Amd Phenom II x6
    4gb ddr3 memory
    500gb 7500rpm hardrive
    ubuntu 10.04
    palit 1gb gts 450
    palit 2 gbgtx 460

i want to run dual display.....using both of the cards....but i don't want the cards to be in sli
as sli is not supported on AMDs
i will be using blender alongside Octane gpu renderer... from what i've read on OCTane sli is not required

now to take advantage of the two graphics cards without sli what would i have too do with X.ORG......

OR---------take advantage of one graphics card being the display whilst the other is hanging around......ofcourse without sli......

BUT have both GPUs detected and available for use with Octane

When you have the time, please read this:
How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

To start, "use meaningful, specific subject headers", or you won't get the answers you need.

870A Fuzion, palit, Octane? ya, I know all about that... We all do... Right?

Any way, here's a little bit of help:
"... as sli is not supported on AMDs"
Are you sure? google for "SLI AMD chipset" (I guess you mean chipset, not cpu). I can't tell, I don't use nvidia for a while.

    Play it again, Sam.
    Best regards
    Luis

With the native nvidia driver installed you can easily configure the desktop for both boards and displays. After installing the driver, run the program 'nvidia-xconfig' first.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
