i'm really struggling with my netbook. i cant get it to "see" my broadband dongle
its an asus Eee pc 900 series, the dongle works on my laptop but when i plug it into the netbook it just doesn't seem to recognise that its there
any help would be greatly appreciated..........thanks

The dongle probably requires a powered usb port. Are you sure the port you plugged it into is powered? On many laptops or netbooks, only one port is powered enough to drive these things. Check the documentation.

theres no mention of powerd usb's in the doc's so i assume there all powerd
also the light on the dongle flashes. so there must be power............right?

What is make and model of dongle
What version of Ubuntu are you running?
What does in terminal with usb dongle plugged in
tell you. Is it seen?Code:lsusb
Also a
with dongle plugged in readout won't hurt either. Use the code tag # in toolbar of advanced reply to post terminal readouts. Makes them easier to read. Not enough info given yet to trouble shootCode:grep | dmesg -i usb
